Welcome Susan Mason, LGPC
As a psychotherapist, it is Susie’s most sincere desire to
develop a supportive, trusting, and caring relationship with her clients and to
instill hope. In therapy, she works in partnership with her clients to identify
issues, establish goals, and find solutions. She respects and honors her
clients as unique individuals and as the best experts of their lives and
experiences.
Susie brings a diversity of life experiences to her practice
in working with adults, with an emphasis on, but not limited to, women’s issues
and transitional life issues, endings and beginnings, especially as encountered
in midlife and beyond. It is her passion to help and support her clients along
their journey.
Susie’s philosophy on therapy is that it involves commitment
and hard work from both client and therapist. She is committed to the process
and works with compassion and creativity in working with her clients. Through
an integral approach, she assists clients to draw on their own strengths and
resources. She believes each client has the ability to overcome challenges and
to make deep and lasting changes toward a greater sense of self, integrity,
resiliency, and resourcefulness.
Susie has a Master’s of Science Degree in Counseling from
McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland, as well as a Master’s of Science
Degree in Education in School Counseling from Old Dominion University in
Norfolk, Virginia. She is a former school counselor in Fairfax County, Virginia
who returned to school as an older adult to become a licensed therapist. She
previously provided individual and group counseling to clients in a community
mental health setting.
